Snake Island (June 19)

I guess it wasn’t just me and shal who were bored to death on Sunday. Tory texted us saying that they are going to the Snake Island with Panina and her host brother and asked us if we wanted to join. Without a doubt, Shal and I decided to go and asked our host dad to get us a cab and bargain with the driver. (In Senegal, taxis don't run by meter or minutes. You have to tell them the destination and bargain the price before getting on to the taxi. If you don't like the price that the driver offers, you can try to bargain it down to the price you think it's reasonable)
It was 11 of us including Panina's host brother and we all got into one small fisherman's boat to get to the Snake island. The name makes us think that there must be a lot of snakes living on the island, however, that wasn't the case here. The island is named 'Snake island' because people believed that there's an evil sprit on the island and that's why people don't live on the island. Panina asked him if it was safe for us to go there if it has such a bad reputation but he comforted us saying that it's just a belief and the island is too small anyway for people to live there.
The boat ride was scary than it seemed like and the water splashed so much that we all got wet. But then where else will you be able to get on the fishing boat to cross the ocean to get to an island??
On the island, we all climbed rocks in flipflops to get on the top of the hill. The view from the top of the island was just amazing and soooooooooo beautiful.
As a dinner, we grilled the fish we got it from a fisherman using rocks to make fire and ate it with hands. I enjoyed every back-to-the-nature-moment of the day on the island thinking that I will never be able to have the same moment again;)

Before and after Kalima and Tory got wet:(
